After leaving the Des Moines area on Wednesday, we drove north 270 or so miles to an rv park in Woodbury, MN. The Saint Paul East RV Park is the closest and nicest rv park to the town of Stillwater, MN, where Donna's brother and Sister-in-Law live. Their two children and their families live in the area, so we've stopped in the neighborhood to see what kind of trouble we can stir up.
Leaving the rolling countryside of Central Iowa, we came into the flat farmlands of Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota.
The well done sign at the state line welcomed us to Minnesota.
After a nice afternoon visit with B and SisIL, and dinner at a nice restaurant, we returned to Nessie and crashed.
Today, Thursday, we met with B and SisIL in the morning, and drove into east St. Paul to have Gus washed. He needed a thorough cleaning, and the Downtowner Car Wash took care of us. Unlike our experience of last year in this area, no damage was done to the car, and he came out clean and sparkling.
We had lunch at Las Margaritas and went to downtown Stillwater to check out the local shops.
A nice walk and a couple of purchases later, we found ourselves at Nelson's, a locally owned ice cream parlor. They must have hundreds of flavors and the portions are huge.
These two cups are the childs size servings. Donna's, on the right, is three scoops of Mackinaw Chunky Fudge, and mine is Butter Brickle on the bottom and Licorice on the top. Yum! Great dinner!
Tomorrow we will continue our search for trouble to get into. Stay tuned!
Whoa! If these are the 'child's sized' ice creams...I can't imagine what the large size would be! Sounds like some interesting flavors as well. Eat your heart out Baskin Robbins!
