A Short Sunday Drive

After several days of noticing decreasing air pressure in one of the car tires, we decided to investigate a little closer today. Guess what? A screw/bolt the size of a pencil was embedded in the edge of the tread! Now, get this right....we noticed the low air pressure on a day trip to Midland, Mi, on Friday. Not thinking the situation through, I kept driving....more than 100 miles that day. Then we towed the car to our current location near Marshall, another 100-odd miles. Hmmm, not as smart as I used to be.

So this afternoon we decided to limp into Marshall to see if there was a service station that could help, or perhaps a tire shop (on Sunday? Come on, Gary.) Nada, nothing. So, taking what little is left of our confidence in hand, we took another drive through the historic district of Marshall....like I said...not so smart...

Our first stop was at the Honolulu House. A most unusual house. Read about it on the signpost.

Even the rear of the home is extraordinary!

A local merchant, Jeremiah Cronin, built this picturesque residence in 1872, and was predicted to be the "most stylish" in the city by the Calhoun County Patriot and Democratic Expounder.

This un-named beauty sits on a quiet side street. We almost missed it.

And the front view.

So, tomorrow is tire-fixing day. Well, we've driven thousands of miles without incident, so one tire repair isn't so bad, now, is it?
