Today we spent all day here at Eagle Nest RV Park. The weather was cloudy today and we still aren't accustomed to the time change (earlier here in MDT), so we stayed in bed until almost 9:30. Of course it didn't help that we stayed up until after midnight last night relaxing after a days drive with a few recorded episodes of "Resurrection".
The park owners put on a Fathers Day brunch for the staff and guests this morning, and it was a feast. A lot of seasonal guests and staff contributed dishes to supplement the pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, and juice and coffee that the owners provided. One particular dish of pull apart cinnamon rolls was particularly delightful, with people fighting over the last crumbs. After a bit of conversation with park guests it was back to the rv for a short siesta before we got together with our friends from Boise for the afternoon. The conversation was good, catching up on latest happenings and talking about future plans. As always among rv'ers, Bob and I discussed the relative merits of our motorhomes, and Donna and Kaye commiserated with each other about the confined kitchens available to them.
We joined a group, including Bob and Kaye, for "Happy Hour" this afternoon and met several more park guests. An eclectic group, there are people from as near as Colorado and as far as Florida, with most regions of the country represented by at least one couple. We talked about all things perfect and all things imperfect; a great time with good people.
About 6:30 the wind began to pick up and the sky got dark as a weather band came in from the south. Within a few minutes it was raining drops the size of nickels and the temp dropped into the low 50's. We ran for cover, deciding to have a quiet evening "at home".
Here's a pic of the mountains to the east of the rv park, still with snow on them:
We're here another day, and hoping for good weather to take a road trip. Until then….
