Time to leave Junction City, OR. Last year we left with a new rv, but this year we only left with a few improvements to Nessie and memories of the Oregon coast. Whew! A couple who moved in yesterday were on their way to talk to a salesman about trading in their Country Coach on a new Newmar Dutch Star. They picked our brains about our rig (not much help there), and then hitched up their drawers and took off to negotiate. Best of luck to them.
We drove 293 miles today to Bothell, WA. Just north of Seattle and south of Everett, Bothell is centrally located to an old friend of ours that we have made arrangements to see. We try to visit her each year and help where we can as she is 93 now and beginning to feel some aches and pains. Verna's knees are not in the best of shape, and arthritis is preventing her from playing the piano. She hasn't lost a bit of her mental acuity however, and remains active in her church. Verna lives alone and drives when she needs to. Her family is some distance away, but she keeps in touch with them whenever possible. We look forward to seeing her.
The trip from Oregon was uneventful until we approached Tacoma, where the Seattle traffic patterns set in, particularly where I5 and I90 merge. We spent an enjoyable hour traveling about 20 miles. Please, someone remind me about Seattle traffic, will you? It seems to get worse every year, if that's possible. Nonetheless, we made it to our rv park eventually, set up, and enjoyed a bit of time on the "patio".
This is the view from our site….not too bad, huh? Lake Pleasant RV Park is aptly named, with ducks and all manner of wildlife (see next pic for a local favorite) set in a rustic area smack in the middle of town. Kinda like a very small Central Park. It's a very nice place. We are in space 62.
Off to see our friend for the next two days. Be back when I can.
