Mt Airy Random Reflections

We were required to spend a few more days in Mt Airy while some trailer issues sorted themselves out, so we checked out a few more local attractions.

In no particular order:

An early lunch at the Snappy Lunch. A line to be seated got us a $2 hotdog (condiments applied in your favorite sequence) and a $5 pork chop sandwich (with slaw and tomato). Sweet tea for two and we were out the door for $15 with tip!

A daytrip to old town Salem North Carolina gave us a close look at some beautifully maintained homes from the Moravian era. The Moravian Church is one of the oldest protestant churches, dating from the 15th century in the Kingdom of Bohemia in eastern Europe. In 1757, Moravian settlers established a town that would later become Salem, NC, and later merge with nearby Winston to form Winston Salem

Old Salem is the site of the original Krispy Creme donut shop, now removed.

Hydrangeas in bloom were attractive to a variety of insects.

This teapot once stood outside the tinsmiths shop back in the day.

A daytrip to Pilot Mountain, coincidentally located near the town of Pilot Mountain, NC, allowed us to enjoy some spectacular scenery and take a short hike. The Yadkin River valley is a fertile and lovely area.

As we prepared to finally leave Mt Airy, a thunderstorm blew in with 60 mph wind and heavy rain.

We have enjoyed Mt Airy, but must move on.
