Indianapolis

A beautiful Indiana morning greeted us.  Temps on the cool side, but a bright sun and not a cloud in the sky.  We left Ft Wayne about 9:30 heading south for Indianapolis, 121 miles away.  The trip was completely uneventful, except for noting the excellent condition that the road system is in.  Every state has its road issues, but the midwest seems to have a quality road system in spite of the large number of heavy trucks that use it.

We checked into the Indy KOA shortly after noon and found a nice site that backs up to a cornfield and has a big lawn and patio area with a fire ring.

The staff here is very courteous and helpful, giving us information about local attractions.

Can you say Gasoline Alley?

We arrived too late to visit the museum, but we talked to security, and made plans to return at a time when we could take a tour of the track and "kiss a brick".  Just seeing the stands of the famous racetrack gave us chills.  We can't wait to take the tour!

Near the racetrack we crossed over a street named for a local basketball player of some note. You may remember the name…..

Then it was a quick trip home to enjoy a relaxing evening outside. During the evening we talked to a couple camped down the road that are from a town just a few miles away from our home in Cali. Small world, again!
