Clarksboro, New Jersey, Gateway to Philadelphia

We left College Park, MD, this morning at about 11 am. As we prepared to leave, we got involved in a gabfest with several of the neighbors that we had met over the last three weeks, and it took a bit longer to get outta town than we had planned. Kevin and Donna have been great to spend evenings with, and hope to buy a larger rv since they are going to be in the District, where Kevin is working, for an extended time. Chuck and Janet Haley are from Arkansas, and we had a pleasant conversation. John and Mary Beth joined us for a long conversation about places to go in Florida and motorhome comparisons. Nice people, all.

Finally on the road, we headed northeast, and one hundred thirty seven miles later, find ourselves in Clarksboro, NJ, very near Philadelphia. Our main route was on I 95, the main north/south route along the east coast from Florida to Maine. Unfortunately, I 95 runs through a tunnel in Baltimore under the Patapsco River where pressurized LPG tanks are prohibited, so we took I 695 around Baltimore and rejoined I 95, where we saw our first signage reminding us that we certainly were not in Kansas anymore!

At the north end of Chesapeake Bay, we crossed the Susquehanna River. This is a very wide waterway with a large amount of traffic.

Unfortunately, the motorhome towing constitutes five axles, so the toll was $48! Soon we were in Delaware preparing to cross the Delaware River. This time the toll was only $9, so the view was much better!

Just a few miles into Delaware, just north of Wilmington, we turned northeast into New Jersey.

We turned onto Timberlane Rd, heading east into the countryside.

Where we found the Timberlane Campground. It's a nice, older park, but has large sites and lots of grass. The parking area for the rv is well packed gravel, and the grassy areas are not overly soft and muddy.

We are in site 85, co-incidently the same site number as we were originally assigned in Cherry Hill, and it's a back in site backing up to an impenetrable wooded area. Gotta keep Sasha out of the weeds, or the ticks will carry her away!

We'll be here a week, checking out the historical districts, and hopefully, the Atlantic Ocean. We'll see how it goes.
