Chinook Cove, Deb and Larry, 4th of July!

We arrived at Chinook Cove RV Park Sunday afternoon, after a 175 mile drive from Boston Bar, BC. Our Florida friends Larry and Deb arrived about an hour later with their owner Max. All three have been close friends since our time with them last year: We immediately had a connection with them then, and Max and Sasha were instant best friends, being a "couple" for a time! Larry and Deb allowed Sasha to babysit them for a week last year while D and I took care of some business, and we will be forever grateful for the great care they took with her.

Max and Sasha immediately took up where they left off last year, rolling and playing like a couple of kids!

Mom, she's got my toy!

OK, we'll share, just a little bit!

Sunday afternoon was spent on intense catchup, finding out what has been happening to each other over the year since we've seen each other, followed by a good dinner at The Station in the hamlet of Barriere, BC, about 250 miles south of Jasper National Park. Monday morning, while drinking coffee at the picnic table, the subject of golf came up. Now, L & D are accomplished golfers, as they live in a golf community in Florida where they can play at will. Donna doesn't play golf, and I play to the extent of carrying a set of clubs wherever we go, so.....a phone call got us a tee time, and we were off!

The course is absolutely stunning, all the more so when you realize that it's a long way from anywhere!

We will remember this round of golf for a long time....Good friends and good golf course!

After an intense 9 hole round, we set up in the shade at the RV park to enjoy a cold drink and to watch Max and Sasha play. Donna and Deb co-ordinated a great dinner, and we all crashed early!

On Tuesday, a special day for America, we made arrangements for the entire USA to celebrate Sasha's birthday! Oh, and.....co-incidently, the 241st birthday of America, as well!

Happy Birthday, America!

We had made arrangements to play another round of golf, so at 10:30 we took off for this lovely, but hilly golf course. After climbing a sixty foot hill to reach the green, Deb declared that we were playing "Mountain Goat Golf!" The course is beautiful and extremely well kept, and is a hidden gem stashed away in the Thompson River Valley. In the evening, Larry and Deb cooked up a traditional Fourth of July outdoor meal, followed by Cherry Pie made from locally grown fruit, and added vanilla ice cream!

Since it was Sasha's birthday, she ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream! She was feeling very special, and believed that Max should share his ice cream with her!

This has been an extremely enjoyable few days, spent with good friends, and with good golf. The ladies prepared monstrous meals for us lazy husband type bums, and we whiled away the hours talking. L & D are on their way to Alaska and generously invited us to tag along, but we simply do not have the time to go that far north, and still make it back to the states in time for previous commitments. Bad karma. We wish them well and are confident they will thoroughly enjoy their trip.

Be safe, Good Friends!
