Valemount, BC, Gateway to Jasper

After leaving Chinook Cove Golf and RV Park in Barriere, BC,  on Wednesday, the 5th of July, we had a very pleasant, quiet drive north on Canada Highway 5 until we reached the town of Valemount. We only had to drive about 176 miles, on what turned out to be a very good two lane road. Our previous experiences on Canadian Roads had led us to believe that this section of road would be curvy, with steep drop-offs and high bridges crossing rushing rivers. Au contraire, we soon discovered, and made the trip in a short 3 hours with the motorhome and tow car.

We're staying in iRVin's RV park just north of Valemount, and after a quick set-up, we drove into town to check it out.

There isn't a lot to this little burg....grocery, gas station, and A&W Root Beer. A couple of restaurants and the ever-present coffee shops completes downtown.

Did I mention the A&W? After 1, 285 miles of driving, we stopped in to have a suds mug, and what did we see? A sign celebrating the beginning of A&W in a small town about 50 miles from our home!

Nevertheless, we're here for a few days so we can visit Mt. Robson Provincial Park, and a couple of other touristy things. If the wifi holds out, we'll be back!
