Change is a Wonderful Thing!

For the second night in a row, we spent time in a Walmart parking lot last night. Excelsior Springs is a lovely rural community and the Walmart was perfectly situated in a grassy area. Unfortunately, the temp at about 11 pm was 92 with 60% humidity. We opened the windows, turned on a portable fan, and collapsed into bed about midnight.

The sounds of small gasoline engines and paint spraying equipment woke us at 4:30 am. A quick look outside told us that the parking lot was being re-striped with bright yellow paint. A young fellow was working the stripes near where we were parked, and so we worried that Nessie and/or Gus were going to turn yellow with the paint coming so close to them!

Everything appeared to be ok this morning, so off we went. Oh, yes, we did stop for fuel first thing this morning after running the generator for about 7 hours last evening!

Our plans called for us to be in Hannibal, MO, Thursday evening, but the 188 miles disappeared so quickly that we decided to push on to our Plan B site, D&W RV Park in Champaign, IL, some 377 miles northeast of Excelsior Springs. We stopped for lunch just east of Hannibal, when we headed toward a day use area on the Missippippi River, but couldn't quite maneuver into it.  We stopped alongside a young cornfield, where the corn is almost as high as an elephants' eye!

D&W is a small, but very nice park, with large grass areas and a dog park for Sasha. They also have a small private lake that features catch and release fishing for visitors. Very nice compared to the parking lots we're used to!

We spent a few minutes removing some of Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois finest livestock off the front of the motorhome, then settled in to watch the NBA finals game 4. Donna is appreciating the utilities and Sasha is enjoying the grass! Life is Good!
