Nessie left our presence this afternoon about 2:30.
But thats a good thing, because she was called into the service area to begin her repairs. Todd from service stopped by this morning to let us know that they were going to have time to address all of our issues this week, pending any necessary parts availability problems, so we're lookin' optimistic now! The only downside to this is that they will come to get Nessie tomorrow morning at 6 am to continue work on her. They return the coach to the same spot that it was in when they left in the morning and hook up the electricity and turn on the a/c, so that whenever the owners return, it will be ready and waiting for them. Pretty cool, huh?
After Nessie left, we had lunch at an Amish market and deli, called Coppe's Corners. A pair of lovely Amish women fixed us pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw with Black Cherry soda to wash it down. The portions were enormous, in fact we couldn't finish it all.
After that stuffage, we decided to drive to Elkhart, Indiana, to see what was there. On the way north, we passed through a small town called Wakarusa, where we spotted a sign directing us to the Dime Store.
So we had to stop. This is the part about "the kid in the candy store".
There were rows of taffy, rows of hard candy, rows of jelly beans, rows of suckers, rows of candy bars. I tell you, it was a delight! And, they had samples! How great is that!
Suitably impressed, we continued on north toward Elkhart. Now I gotta tell you, I put a lot of faith in these GPS devices we all use these days, but today we were led astray. I plugged in the address for the RV/MH Hall of Fame, and this was the road that we were told led to it:
Turns out this picture is of a county road (!) that leads into the back side of the museum.
As you can see, storm clouds were gathering on the horizon, so along with the fact that it was getting late in the afternoon, we decided to pass on the tour and mozy home. We ended up talking to our "neighbors", Dale and Lisa, for over an hour, about traveling, future plans, children and family, and all sorts of neat stuff. They are very nice people from Michigan, and have begun a fulltime lifestyle in a brand new Newmar Dutch Star. It's a beautiful coach, and Donna and I are envious of the color scheme that they chose. Maybe we'll go shopping for a new one.....no, Donna, don't hit me with that...
Just a bit before sunset, the sky began to cloud up again...
And we got enough rain to settle the dust. What a sight!
