A down day today. We're feeling lonely in Indiana; the Newmar plant has closed for the weekend, and the courtesy parking area has only about 8 rigs in it and we're missing folks back home. The weather is nice...warm, but with a chilly start this morning. It is Fall, you know.
The service tech showed up at about 6:15 this morning, just in time for coffee, but he didn't take time to have any. Off Nessie went into the big building to the south, and off we went to Athens Gyro for breakfast again. A lot of local eat there, and we caught up on a lot of local gossip ("she's been charged with embezzlement, you know"). The portions of food were huge, and we thought we'd never eat again.
An order of french toast and sausage on one side of the table, and scrambled eggs and bacon and cinnamon raisin toast on the other. Oh, boy...
We drank coffee until 8:30, and then came back to Newmar, fully expecting to to the customer lounge act for the rest of the day. But no, we talked to Ted and Phyllis from next door for an hour of so, and then ran to drop off the propane tank for the barbecue to be filled. We noticed that it was time for the Newmar plant tour, so off we went to that at 10.
It is amazing to see how a motorhome is built. We saw the subassemblies come from different onsite shops, along with furniture, appliances, and such, all at the correct time for efficient assembly. We weren't allowed pics of the area or of the production procedures, but take my word, it was cool.
After the tour, we decided that we were hungry, so we drove 30 miles to Goshen, IN, for lunch at Tony's Famous Grill, where we enjoyed an order of fish and chips and one of Tony's giant steak sandwiches.
Ok, ok, I know it's all about food...
Rushed back to Nappanee to pick up Nessie at 2:30, then off to the propane place, then it was time to plan for dinner....
We noticed that the trees are starting to turn fall colors...they'll be beautiful in a few weeks.
