We slept late this morning, and leisurely prepared for an arduous 63 mile drive into New Orleans. In spite of trying to take it slow, we arrived at Ponchartrain Landing RV park at five minutes after the specified check in time of noon.
The park is very comfortable, with good utilities and such, but with a sporadic wifi system that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Fortunately the ATT cell signal is strong, so we're able to use our hotspot for internet access. The sites are spaced nicely, and our site (#32) opens directly onto the boat slip and has a bit of grass for Sasha. The price is a bit high, with the 50% off Passport America cost for our site being $39+tax. The local tax is over 18%. Ouch!
Since we had arrived so early, we had time to find a local park so Sasha could run a bit. It's been several days since she has had a good run, and she needed to let off a little steam!
A stop at a local grocery store completed our afternoon excursion. Rouse's is a local chain evidently, and has a great selection of goods. You can certainly tell that crab and crawfish are in season here!
The office building has a restaurant upstairs with a veranda. Even though the wind was blowing a bit due to a cold front moving through the area, we sat for a bit with some snacks. That bridge in the distance is the southern end of the Ponchartrain Causeway that we mentioned a few days ago.
It's good to be back in NO. It's been years since we were last here, and we hope to visit some of the attractions that we missed before, and visit again some of the ones that we enjoyed in years past. I'll keep you posted!
Happy Sasha!
