Ft Chiswell, Virginia

Sasha received a little extra attention Monday night, as well as a bit of medication for an upset stomach. She also began to walk with a limp, which indicates that she has irritated a nerve or a muscle in her neck. We were quite concerned because she wouldn't eat or drink.

But on Tuesday morning, the 16th of August, she got up pretty chipper. Her limp had disappeared and she began to eat and drink a little bit. I won't go into great detail, but let me say that she got a new toy a few days ago that had a lot of stuffing in it. Her job was to immediately tear out the squeaky and start pulling out the stuffing. It was obvious yesterday morning that she had eaten a bunch of the stuffing. Not good. No more stuffed toys for her!

We left Misty Mountain RV Park just southeast of Waynesboro about 9:30 am and jumped on I-64 heading west. Near Staunton, Virginia, we turned south and west onto I-81, where we cruised along on some of the best interstate highway we've ever seen. This is a major trucking artery, and the traffic was a little congested near cities and truck stops, but we still made excellent time and covered 164 miles.

About half-way to our next destination we stopped for a couple of nights near the town of Wytheville. This was named for George Wythe, the good friend of George Washington, and the original owner of the house we visited in Williamsburg. We're staying at the Ft Chiswell RV Park, and are thoroughly enjoying our stay. We're in site 27, an easy in, easy out site.

As you can see, large grass playgrounds are well manicured and available for use by kids and dogs! The utilities are satisfactory, the cable tv is fine, and the wifi is usable if not lightning quick. We've taken the opportunity to do laundry, wash the motorhome, and do a little relaxing. The weather has cooled with a little rain activity, so morning and evening "outside time" is much enjoyed.

Tomorrow (Thursday) we'll be back on the road again. We have spent just two nights at each of the last four stops, so we're looking forward to staying a bit longer at tomorrow's destination. We'll be in touch!
