It's 235 miles from Glenpool, Oklahoma, where we stayed Sunday night, and our camp in Frisco. We followed US 75 south for awhile, turned southwest toward Dallas on 69, and then rejoined 75 for the last leg of the journey. The road condition varied greatly, from cobblestone conditions to smooth as glass. Inexplicably, the toll roads had the worst sections of road, as well as the best. US 75 isn't anything to write home about, but in it's defense, the traffic seems to be very heavy on it.
We crossed the Red River just after noon into texas.
And stopped for a lunch at a rest stop/information center. Texas is known for having great rest stops and, in particular, having very nice information centers at the major highways into the state. This was no exception. Huge expanses of grass surround a building set on a knoll commanding a view of the countryside. The structure is modern, clean, and well staffed, and provides areas for parking large vehicles as well as cars for up to a 24 hour rest period. Well done, Texas!
A plaque off to one side of the lawn, on the Oklahoma side, details an interesting event surrounding the growth of the two states that share a common river.
We'll be in Frisco for a few days, visiting friends, and then it's on the road again!
