A Nice Visit

Donna and I spent most of yesterday with our old friend, Verna, remembering old times and reliving memories of people, places, and things we have shared.  Verna, although without most of her upper arm and shoulder strength, fixed us a nice lunch of tuna salad sandwiches.  In the evening, we met our son in law, Monte, and our grand-daughter Emily for dinner.

And a good time was had by all!

Today we went to Verna's about noon to find that she had fixed another wonderful lunch.  Turns out that after we left her last night, she boiled two Lobster tails and prepped for a wonderful, cool, Lobster Salad.  She also prepared cucumbers with sour cream and sugar in the Norwegian style (yum in spite of how it may sound), tomatoes, and fruit salad. Of course we couldn't let it go at that, so she invited us to her church for the twice monthly community dinner.  Volunteers from the church prepare meals for members of the community, without regard for status or condition, and ofttimes serve 60 or so people.  We enjoyed a good meal of chicken, BBQ Beef, salad and some scrumptious cupcakes for dessert. We left Verna sadly, knowing it may be a year or so until we see her again.
