Out of the City

Donna wanted to exit Seattle at the first opportunity. Even though the site we had in the park was beautiful:

we had finished our visit with our friend and decided that we needed a different pace for a few days. Knowing that Seattle traffic is horrible, we waited until 9:30 this morning hoping to be well behind the jams.  Ha!  It took just over an hour to drive from Bothell (a suburb of Seattle where the rv park was located) to the junction of I90 and Hwy 405, a distance of about 18 miles.  Great….

Once on I90 east, things picked up dramatically as we headed up Snoqualmie Pass.  Mostly truck traffic  as we dropped down into the Columbia Basin. The terrain changed dramatically from forest to desert within just a few miles.  Eventually we passed through huge "crop circles" of sweet corn, potatoes, onions and field corn.  This is an amazing way to farm, and we continue to be in awe of the process that produces so much food in such a concentrated space.

318 miles from Bothell, we pulled into Blackwell Island RV Park in Coeur d'Alene, ID.  This is a very pretty place, with Lake Coeur d'Alene fed by the Spokane River, which flows by right outside our front window.

The park is very clean and nice, with gravel pads.  The staff is very courteous and helped us situate our rig so as to get the best satellite reception (can't miss Duck Dynasty, you know).  The only complaint we might have is about the sharp tongued little dog across the street that seems to need to protect the entire city!

We took a bit of a walk around the park and along the river after dinner this evening and remarked at how comfortable the temperature is.  Mid 70's today, low 80's tomorrow.  No mosquitoes, and just a minimum of street lighting.  Nice place. We are in space 114.
