Moving East

181 miles east of Coeur d'Alene finds us in Polson, Montana.  This is a small town on the south end of Flathead Lake, only 1 1/2 hours south of Glacier Park.  Flathead Lake is the largest body of freshwater in the US, and believe me, it is huge!  The road around the lake is 80 miles long and requires at least 2 hours to drive it.

We left CdA this morning in a driving rainstorm.  So much for the classic car Show n' Shine that was scheduled for today. About 90 miles east of CdA we turned north along the Clark Fork of the St Regis river.

The road ran northeast for 20 odd miles and then we turned east on Montana 200, passing through farms with hay and cattle.

We turned north on Montana 93 and drove into the town of Polson.  From a vista point we got our first view of the lake.

We're staying in the Eagle Nest RV Park in space F2.  Some acquaintances from last year in Nevada are camp hosting here and we decided to drop in and say hello.  The park is small, but very nice, and well kept.  Most of the residents are "seasonal", meaning that they come in April and leave about October.  It's much cooler here than in the south in summer, as the highs reach the 80's, but rarely higher.

One last observation:  As I write this, local time (MDT) is 9:32 pm. The sun is still shining brightly. I'm sure I'll get used to this eventually…..
