Nephew and Niece-in-Law?

We went into St Paul, MN, with Bill and Linda today to visit their son and daughter-in-law, Chuk and Jill.  CJ live in a wonderful old 1915 era house in the Macalester District.

You can see by the view from the back yard that the house has character.  There is a basement, the main floor with the kitchen, living and dining rooms, and the upper level with bedrooms and the bathroom.  The house is in exceptional condition for being almost 100 years old, and is decorated and landscaped perfectly.

We feasted on fruits and veggies and chips and dips and enjoyed each others company all afternoon.

Donna and Jill found a great deal in common and Bill and Chuk had a go at the knife throwing board.

Bill had his best luck with the hatchet, and Chuk threw 3 knives at once and stuck them all!

After all that hard work we had to take a break and taste some hot, grilled, bacon wrapped Jalapeño poppers.

And then, since we had worked up such an appetite by eating all afternoon, we sat down to a delicious dinner of Grilled Pork Loin, Baked Potato, Cucumber Salad and Caprese Salad on the patio.  After dinner we went inside because the wind picked up and had dessert (!) and coffee.

I don't know if it was the food or just the moment, but my darling wife decided to don a sombrero to honor the gift that CJ gave her: a wonderfully sweet homemade concoction that is shared with good friends and guaranteed to kickstart any party!
