We Made It!

We had a great visit with Donna's brother and SIL in Bemidji, but it was time to really get the show on the road. We left the KOA in Bemidji at about 10 this morning, and ran off a quick 250 miles to the Twin Cities.

Most of the trip was via Minnesota hwy 371, which is a great divided highway much like US 2 was as we drove east from Seattle.

The town of Cass Lake, just a bit southeast of Bemidji had a little difficulty letting us pass through...One GPS device had instructions, another had conflicting instructions, and the signage was confusing, to say the least.  So after another of those "ring around the offramp" scenarios, we finally got situated and heading south.  Passed through or around Cass Lake, Leech Lake, Walker and Hackensack; Cross Lake, Brainerd, Little Falls and Clearwater.  Then we fell into the poop navigating around Minneapolis during rush hour on a Friday night.

Eventually, with the help of a great deal of shouting and waving of arms, we made it to our home for the next two weeks: St. Paul East RV Park in Woodbury, MN.  This isn't a bad park, however one can detect the roots of the KOA that the park was part of in the past....sites are small and feel crowded, and the infrastructure is miminal.  We have a site (30) that doesn't have a sewer hookup, so when we wish to dump, we'll run over to the dump station and "do our business". A bit of a bother, but what can you do?  Why "go with the flow, of course".

Donna's brother lives about 10 miles from where we're staying, so we went to their house to catch up on the latest gossip that we had missed since we all left Bemidji this am.  And....also decided to go to dinner at a local eatery named Joseph's . Joseph's is the restaurant the our nephew worked at when he was in high school, and a place where we've eaten in the past.  They still have great food!

Linda ordered a chicken salad, Donna had a fish sandwich, and I enjoyed a Morgan Burger with 1/2 pound of beef, 2 eggs, thick sliced bacon, and a side of Hot German Potato Salad.  Umm, Ummm! Bill ordered a house speciality burger, and polished it off in no time!  Of course, since Joeseph is know for it's homemade pies, we had to try some....Coconut cream and Chocolate Berry.  No pics due to lack of evidence: it disappeared under suspicious circumstances.  Great food!
