Nessie is just visible behind the trees. We're thankful for the trees, as a late afternoon group of residents played through and several balls fortunately got lost in the trees before they hit Nessie!
The fourth hole is the signature hole, over water, and about 117 yards.
Not a bad little course, and at $15 with a cart, it can't be beat! Donna was my cart driver and caddy, so we all got a little exercise.
We had to rest after all the strenuous work of chasing a little white ball, so we watched the AmGen Bicycle Tour on the telly for awhile. Quite exciting since the finish was in territory completely familiar to us! Nice to see it on tv!
Of course, after a rest, we had to eat, so a quick trip to Dixie Crossroads was in order. This famous restaurant (at least on the East coast) serves primarily seafood, as well as burgers and steaks. We ordered a seafood combo that had scallops, shrimp, and a type of shrimp they called Rock Shrimp. We also ordered a plate of Shrimp Scampi and two cups of soup, chowder and Hawaiian Coconut. The Hawaiian Coconut was a delicately flavored vegetable soup with just enough shredded coconut to provide a hint of sweetness. The dinner came with complimentary Krabby Kakes.....a crab fritter that was very tasty, and powdered sugar covered fried corn fritters that were a perfect end to the meal! I should say that most of the meal came home with us in a box!
